Granite State Independent Living GSIL
Founded in 1980, Granite State Independent Living (GSIL) has grown to be a state wide information, advocacy and direct services non-profit organization committed to equal opportunities for all.
GSIL is New Hampshire’s only Center for independent Living - providing a wide array of in-home and community based services. One such service within GSIL is the Employment and Community Support Program (ECSP). The ECSP has been providing supports to adults with developmental disabilities for over 30 years with its funding from several NH Area Agencies. The ECSP has extensive experience in creating effective, individualized services catered to meet the specific needs of each consumer.
The following are all available at GSIL however will vary based on the type of funding available:
Employment:
Employment preparedness - assessing skills and vocational interests, setting up job shadowing opportunities, helping consumers to gain those soft skills needed to effectively communicate in a work setting, assistance with completing employment applications and scheduling interviews.
Employment supports – on-the-job training, job coaching, assessment of job retention skills, employer contacts/check-ins/trouble shooting, developing natural supports, transportation assistance.

Community Supports:
Opportunities to be involved in the community and promote socialization
Volunteer work
Skills acquisition (academic, safety skills, etc.)
Community involvement – exploring community resources, selecting community activities of
Interest (bowling, exercising, crafts, etc.).
Independent Living/ in-home supports:
Including but not limited to:
Assistance with housekeeping and organizational skills
Assistance with nutrition, meal planning, grocery shopping and food preparation
Help with learning to budget money and pay bills
